FAQ

Start here

How does Antichaos actually work?

Four screens along the bottom, left to right. Home is where you get it out of your head: type or say everything you are carrying and it comes back as separate task cards. Tasks is the full list, with a plus button at the bottom right to add one by hand. Priorities has two views behind one toggle: a grid that crosses important against urgent, and a calendar for dated things and shifts. Progress shows what you have actually finished.

A card holds a title, a category, a date, importance, urgency, a checklist, notes, who you are waiting on, and a repeat if it recurs. Tap any card to open all of it. Swipe right to complete, swipe left to delete, on every screen they appear.

Importance is yours to set and never changes on its own. Urgency is the app's, and it moves as a date gets closer, so things climb the list without you re-sorting anything.

How does the free trial work?

New accounts get 28 days of the AI features (Brain Dump, Calendar Dump, Briefing and Thought Partner) free from first use. No payment method is required to start it, so nothing is charged when it ends: the AI features simply lock until you subscribe. Everything you captured during the trial stays yours and stays visible, nothing is taken away when the trial ends.

What exactly happens when the 28-day trial ends?

Nothing is taken away and nothing is charged.

New accounts get 28 days of the AI features free from first use, and no payment method is needed to start, so there is nothing for us to charge when the 28 days are up. What happens is that the four AI surfaces lock: brain dump turning what you say into sorted cards, calendar dump reading a roster, the written briefing, and thought partner.

Everything else keeps working with no time limit: adding and editing tasks by hand, checklists, notes, categories, dates, reminders, the priority grid, the calendar, completing things, and export. Everything you captured during the trial stays exactly where it is.

What can I do without a subscription?

Everything except the AI. Adding tasks by hand, editing them, checklists, notes, categories, dates, reminders, the priority grid, the calendar, completing things, and the plain text export all keep working, with no time limit and no payment.

What locks when the trial ends is the four AI surfaces: Brain Dump turning what you say into sorted cards, Calendar Dump reading a roster, the written Briefing, and Thought Partner. Nothing you captured is taken away, and nothing is deleted.

What is the difference between Core and Premium?

Core has Brain Dump, rosters pasted onto your calendar, and Briefing. Premium adds Thought Partner and sharing cards with up to four people. Core is $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year, Premium $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, in US dollars; the App Store shows your local price.

Brain dump and your list

Where did my brain dump go?

If you sorted it, the items are on Tasks, under whichever categories they were given. If you parked it, it is in To sort, waiting for you.

Anything still unsorted after 14 days is archived, under archived in To sort. Tap one to read it or add it to Tasks, or revive it, or delete it. Let it go deletes a waiting capture instead of archiving it, with an Undo at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds. Nothing else is deleted unless you delete it, so a capture from a month ago is still readable.

The brain dump split my stuff up wrong

That is useful to hear, and it is the kind of thing that gets better fastest when someone tells me exactly what happened.

Two things you can do right now. Every card is editable, so open the one it got wrong and fix the title, the category or the date, and the app keeps your version. If it merged two things, edit the card down to one of them and add the other as a new card. If it split one thing in two, keep one and swipe the other away.

One thing I would ask of you. Paste me the dump as you typed or said it, and tell me what you expected to come out. I read every one of these and they change how the splitting works.

Why does the order of my tasks keep changing on its own?

That is the app doing its job, and it only moves one of the two dials.

Importance is yours. You set it and it never changes by itself.

Urgency is ours, and it moves as a date gets closer. That is what makes something climb the list without you going back and re-sorting everything by hand. So a task you set weeks ago will rise on its own as its date approaches, and nothing about your importance setting has changed.

If something is climbing and you think it should not be, tell me what it is and what date is on it.

Where do my reminders come from, and why has one not arrived?

Reminders are set in Settings: a daily reminder time and how far ahead of a dated task to nudge you.

They are sent by the app on your phone, not from a server, so they only arrive in the iPhone app and only while it is installed. Antichaos in a browser cannot send them. If one has not turned up, the order to check is: notifications allowed for Antichaos in the iPhone's own Settings, and the task actually has a date.

I recorded something and nothing came out

Annoying. The good news is it is probably still there.

Open the capture and look for a retry button on the tile. A recording whose transcription failed stays on your phone marked as waiting, and retrying is usually all it takes.

If there is no retry showing, it has most likely gone, and I am sorry. The honest advice in that case is to say it again quickly while it is still in your head, because that is faster than anything I can do from here.

Worth knowing: a waiting recording does not sit there forever, so retry it soon rather than leaving it until next week.

Either way, tell me if it happens again, and anything you can give me helps: roughly how long the recording was, whether you had signal, and what you were trying to capture.

Does it work offline?

You can capture and edit with no connection. Your changes queue up and sync the moment you are back.

Why did the app turn light?

Antichaos now follows your iPhone’s appearance, so on an iPhone set to Light, the app is light too.

To choose for yourself: Settings → Appearance, then Light or Dark. Automatic follows your iPhone again.

Calendar

Why is my Google calendar missing?

Antichaos reads the calendars on your iPhone. If your Google calendar is not on the iPhone, add your Google account to the iPhone’s Calendar in the Settings app, then connect again in Antichaos.

Can I connect my Google or Outlook calendar directly?

Not directly, no. Antichaos reads the calendars your iPhone already has, so the way in is to add your Google or Outlook calendar to the iPhone first. It takes a couple of minutes and you only do it once.

On your iPhone, open Settings, go to Calendar, then Accounts, then Add Account. Pick Google or Outlook, sign in, and make sure the Calendars switch is turned on for that account. If you are on a newer iPhone and cannot find Calendar in Settings, look under Apps first and then Calendar.

Then come back to Antichaos, go to Settings and tap Connect your calendar, and the calendars you just added will be there to choose from.

If they are not showing up, tell me which provider it was and I will walk through it with you.

Will calendar import duplicate or change my calendar?

Short answer: import is one way. Antichaos reads your iPhone calendars and does not change what is already in them.

You choose which calendars it reads, then you pick which events become Antichaos events. Nothing becomes one unless you pick it, and picking it does not write anything back to your iPhone calendar, so there is no duplicate on the phone side.

The other direction is separate. Events you create inside Antichaos can be added to your iPhone calendar, and if you move one in Antichaos the copy moves with it. That only applies to events Antichaos made, not to anything it imported.

If you are seeing a duplicate anyway, tell me which calendar it is in and whether the event started in Antichaos or on the phone, and I will look.

Sharing

How do I share a card, and where is the connection code?

Sharing works between two people who have each accepted a connection code, so the code comes first and you only do it once per person.

In Antichaos, go to Settings and generate a connection code, then send it to the person you want to share with. They enter it in their own copy of Antichaos. The code is for one person and it expires, so if it has been sitting around for a while, generate a fresh one.

Once you are connected, open the card you want to share and use the share control on it. It lands in their To sort rather than in their lists, so tell them to look there first, because that is what catches most people out.

Who sees a card I share?

Only the person you share it with. They see its title, due date, importance, urgency and how many steps it has before they choose to keep it, and it lands in their default category. Once kept, edits to the title, notes and steps travel both ways, and so does ticking it off. Your reminders and who you are waiting on stay yours. Stop sharing or remove the connection any time; each of you keeps the copy you have.

I shared a card and they cannot see it

Thanks for writing, and sorry for the confusion.

Two things have to be true for a shared card to show up.

First, you both need to be connected. Sharing only works between two people who have each accepted a connection code. The code is for one person and it expires, so if it has been sitting a while, generate a fresh one.

Second, and this is the one that catches most people: the card lands in their To sort, not in their lists. Until they file it into a category of their own, it will not appear anywhere they are looking. Ask them to check To sort.

If it is in neither place, tell me what you each see on your screens and I will dig in.

What happens to a shared card if we disconnect, or if I cancel?

You can stop sharing a card, or remove the connection altogether, any time. When you do, each of you keeps the copy you already have. Nothing is deleted from either side, and the two copies simply stop talking to each other.

Cancelling a subscription works the same way for anything already shared: what you have shared keeps syncing. What stops is sharing new cards, because sharing is a Premium feature.

Account

I cannot sign in

Sorry about that. Start with how you signed up, because that decides the fix.

If you used Sign in with Apple or Google, use that same button again rather than a password. A password will not exist for your account and the email box will not recognise you.

If you used an email address and a password, tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen and the reset link comes to that address. Check the spam folder, because a first-time reset often lands there.

If neither gets you in, reply with the email address you signed up with and roughly when, and I will find the account from my side.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so they are cancelled through Apple: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Antichaos. In-app, Settings → Manage or cancel opens the same screen.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's refund policies, so Antichaos cannot issue them directly, but email us if something looks wrong and we will help you work out what happened.

I am paying but the AI features are still locked

Sorry, that should not happen. Before I dig into the account, one thing fixes this most of the time: close Antichaos completely, open it again, go to Settings and give it a few seconds to catch up with the App Store.

Tell me whether that did it. If it did not, say so and I will go and look at your account properly.

How do I delete my data or my account?

In-app: Settings → Delete account. That removes your tasks, decisions, brain dumps, uploaded profile photo and the account itself, on the retention windows described in the . It cannot be undone, so take a copy first from the Export screen, in two steps:

1. In Raw export, set the range to All open items and tap Generate. On the web the .md button saves it as a markdown file; in the iPhone app use Share to carry the text out.

2. Set it to All done items and tap Generate again, and save or share that one too. (The AI Briefing above it is written for pasting into a chat, so it offers Copy and Share rather than a file.)

Not in that export: events, and anything still unsorted in the Brain Dump queue. Both are deleted with everything else, so sort them into tasks, or copy them out by hand, first.

One thing worth knowing: deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription, because Apple owns that billing relationship. Cancel it with Apple first, using the steps above.

Privacy and your data

Is it safe

Short answer: your content is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored in Australia, never sold, and never used to train AI models.

The longer answer, in plain terms.

Where your stuff lives. Your account and your content sit with Supabase, in Australia. The connection is encrypted and so is the database.

What leaves. Nothing goes to an AI provider until you use an AI feature. When you do, only what is needed goes: the text, audio or photo you submitted, and the minimum context. Your email address, your name and your sign-in details are not sent.

Voice. A recording is saved on your own phone first, so a failed transcription does not lose what you said. It passes through Antichaos's server to OpenAI to be turned into text, and is never stored on that server, never attached to your account, and never put in an error report.

Photos. Resized on your phone, sent to be read, dropped as soon as the answer comes back. Never written to disk, never uploaded, never attached to your account.

Training. Under OpenAI's and Amazon Bedrock's terms, what Antichaos sends is not used to train AI models.

What is tracked. A fixed list of product events, every value a number, a flag or one word from a fixed list. A task title or anything you said to Thought Partner cannot appear in one. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and nothing that records your taps or replays your screen. Raw events are deleted after 90 days.

Sharing. A card you share carries the title, notes, steps, due date, importance and urgency. Your reminders, your waiting-on and your ideas do not travel. Clear, Dread and Blocked stay yours. Nobody can connect to you without a code you gave them, which expires and is for one person.

Getting out. Delete your account in Settings and your content, your uploads and the account itself go. Export your data from the Export screen.

Using this at work

Antichaos is built for your own thinking, and plenty of what people put in it is work. Two separate questions come up, and it is worth keeping them apart.

The first is what this app does with what you type. That is what the is for, and it answers it in detail.

The second is what your employer allows. Many organisations have rules about putting work information into tools they have not approved, and some of those rules apply no matter how carefully the tool handles data. Nothing Antichaos does can answer that question for you. If you are unsure, your workplace's IT or privacy policy is the place to look, and the safe habit is to write what you need to remember without the details that identify a client, a colleague or a matter.

What exactly comes out when I export, and in what format?

Export lives in the app and gives you your content as plain text, so it opens anywhere and does not need Antichaos to read it.

One thing worth knowing so you do not think half of it is missing: the raw export does one range at a time and starts on the last seven days. For a full copy, set it to all open items and generate, then set it to all done items and generate again. Two exports, not one.

Other devices

Is there an Android version, and can I use it on a computer?

No Android version today, and no clear date for one just yet. It is on the list and it gets built when we have the time and the people to do it properly rather than badly.

Antichaos is an iPhone app, and you can also open it in a browser and do most of it there, including capturing by voice. What the browser cannot do is send you reminders, give you Siri or the Control Centre tile, let you share something in from another app, or push you a card the moment someone shares it. Those all need the iPhone app.

If Android is the thing standing between you and using this, tell me. That is the kind of message that moves something up a list.

Ideas

I have an idea for how this could be better. Where do I send it?

Straight to me, and I mean that literally rather than politely.

Send it to support@antichaos.app. I read every one. If it is something we are going to build I will tell you where it sits in what we are doing next, and if it is not, I will tell you that too and why, which I would rather do than leave you wondering.

Antichaos is built by one person, so there is no committee between your idea and the thing that gets made.

How do I report a bug or ask for something?

Email support@antichaos.app with "Bug" or "Idea" at the front of the subject line. For a bug, the useful details are what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead, and a screenshot if you have one. Feature requests genuinely do get read: Antichaos is built by one person and the roadmap is shaped by what people ask for.
